Jenny McCarthy opened up about her harrowing health journey on Thursday, revealing she moved into a tent outside her home after being diagnosed with mycotoxin poisoning.

The 53-year-old said on her podcast: The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Showthat she had become ill after spending time in an old dressing room with “1950s air conditioning”, believing she was affected by the mold present in the premises.

Jenny added that she began suffering from a myriad of debilitating symptoms after her time in the locker room, including a root canal infection, chalazions, rashes, swelling, insomnia and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

She suspected the air conditioner was the problem after her makeup artist, “who only works on me in this dressing room”, also started having health problems.

After the ordeal, the TV personality felt the need to live in a tent outside her home, even though she paid to have a specialist remove all mold in her home. “(I’m) paranoid now about sleeping anywhere,” she shared, before showing off her outdoor arrangements.

“I don’t have to worry about rain in California, but I worry about chemtrails and also sprinklers.”

“You have to get contractors to come in and rebuild your house… and then you hear, you have to get rid of all your furniture, you have to get rid of all your clothes,” Jenny continued.

“That’s where this journey has taken me. After all these surgeries, after being diagnosed with mycotoxin poisoning, I sometimes feel a little crazy and like the walls are crumbling and paranoid. It’s really, really hard.”

The mother-of-one even felt she developed post-traumatic stress disorder because of the ordeal. “They’re talking about people being poisoned by mold and suffering from PTSD. I’m still in the trauma part. I’m not even in the ‘post’ part yet, because I feel like now everything is mold. Honestly, I can sniff out mold, like a mold dog.”

Jenny previously said she had to undergo nine separate mouth surgeries in 2025 due to a recurring infection which led to several of her teeth falling out.

“We made it a goal and we said it out loud because we wanted to achieve it. And here we are, with our children, and we are grateful for every moment.”
