Jimmy Kimmel’s last night in New York takes a crazy turn with the appearance of Jon Stewart, ‘Urban Scavenger’
“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart made a surprise appearance at Jimmy Kimmel’s final night hosting his show in Brooklyn Friday night.
Emerging from the “sewers” of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, dressed in the costume of people recently caught climbing in and out of New York City manholes, Stewart drew enthusiastic applause from the studio audience as he revealed himself.
“What are you doing there?” » asked Kimmel. “Are you an urban scavenger?”
“An urban scavenger? Stewart replied. “How about hello? How about ‘Nice to see you’?”
Stewart said he doesn’t dig for things in the sewers, but takes them down “for the rats.”
“I’m like a little Santa rat,” Stewart said.
“What gifts do you bring to the rats?” » asked Kimmel.
“Let’s platoon,” Stewart said sarcastically. “What do you think I mean: Amazon gift cards? I’m bringing food. They’re rats!”
After a person in a rat costume appeared and Stewart gave him a piece of pizza, Kimmel protested, saying he didn’t think it was right for Stewart to give pizza to rats.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were the boss of Brooklyn. Let me tell you something. Like Jesus said, and by the way, I shouldn’t know that. You should know that. Like Jesus said, if you give a rat a pizza, it eats for a day. But if you teach a rat to make its own pizza…” Stewart said, trailing off.
Asked about the condition of the sewers, Stewart said Rudy Giuliani was still mayor and a Mets game was scheduled for later that night.
“The Mets still playing in the sewers? Kimmel said.
“They played in the sewers all year too,” Stewart said before retreating to his sewer hole.
