Jon Gosselin sends moving message to children after estrangement
Jon Gosselin begged his former children to contact him and read their brother Collin Gosselin’s explosive memoir in an emotional plea.
“I hope you understand that I still love you,” Jon, 49, said in a message to the six kids he doesn’t talk to during a new “Entertainment Tonight” interview. “I hope that one day you will contact me.”
Jon continued, “And please read your brother’s book because I think it will explain a lot. Be your own person. You’re all adults now.”
The former “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star called on children to “form their own opinions and try to gather as much information before talking about ill will or anything about any member of this family.”
Jon, who shares eight children with ex-wife Kate Gosselin, is separated from twins Mady and Cara, 26, and four sextuplets: Aeden, Leah, Joel and Alexis, all aged 22.
He only has relationships with Collin and his daughter Hannah, both 22 years old.
Jon claimed he “didn’t talk” to his former kids, but he “of course” wanted to.
“It’s not about books,” he said of Collin’s memoir. “I just want to know how their lives are going. I mean, we’re complete strangers now.”
Jon noted that he’s been separated from Mady and Cara for 13 years, but he has “no idea why.”
“And then the other four, I haven’t seen them since before COVID, maybe,” he added.
Jon insisted he’s “tried to reach out” to his former children, but they continue to ignore him.
In his book, Collin accuses Kate, 51, of serious child abuse, child exploitation and emotional abuse (Kate has denied her son’s claims).
Collin also explained that he hasn’t spoken to his siblings, except Hannah, in 10 years.
“I love them very much and I want them to know that what was done to us when we were children is not normal,” he told Page Six earlier this month.
“It’s horrible how much triangulation happened in our house and how we were pitted against each other,” the “Special Forces” star added. “I mean, how do you do this to siblings who were all born together on the same day? It’s horrible.”
However, Collin has made it clear that his love for his siblings hasn’t changed.
“I love them very much and I want them to know that what was done to us when we were children is not normal,” he told us.
Kate, for her part, recently hit back at the claims in Collin’s memoir in a comment on TikTok, insisting that “his kids know who I really am and to me that’s all that matters.”
Following Collin’s accusations of childhood abuse against his mother, Jon alleged that he wanted to sue his ex-wife.
“She needs to stop. He’s not mentally ill. I would certainly have grounds to sue Kate for defamation and slander,” he said last week.
