But Smith was named special advisor a few months After the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago on August 8, 2022 as part of the classified documents scandal.
“He was trying to get his hands on everything Donald Trump related,” Hawley told host Sean Hannity. “He read all of Trump’s phones. He read all of Trump’s documents. Let’s not forget he went through Melania Trump’s personal drawers, her clothes, her items that were very personal to her. I mean, it’s ridiculous, just ridiculous. This guy was totally out of control. And I hope he’s held accountable for that.”
