Julia Stiles and ‘DWTS’ Co-star Ezra Sosa Cry in Interviews After ‘Disney Night’ Elimination
Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa got emotional in heartbreaking interviews following their elimination from “Dancing With the Stars.”
The actress, who was cut on “Disney Night” on Monday, tearfully reflected on the “incredible” experience on ABC’s “On the Red Carpet” after the episode.
“I’ll always have that with me. And I’m really, really glad that we were able to go out on a high,” the “10 Things I Hate About You” star, 45, said, referring to their paso doble to “Satisfied” from “Hamilton.”
Stiles added: “I’m really sad because I’m going to miss seeing this guy every day.”
Sosa, 25, echoed the sentiment, resting his forehead against hers before saying, “She made me a better person. Oh, I’m going to cry!”
He persevered, rejoicing that Stiles had made him a “better teacher, choreographer (and) person.”
Sosa explained: “Just your open-mindedness and your honesty, really – it touched me in so many ways, and I’m so lucky. I’ve retained, I’ve learned a lot from Julia and I’m really grateful for this experience.”
The couple also spoke to Entertainment Tonight, with the Golden Globe nominee crediting the competition series for her newfound “confidence” and “strength.”
“I had so much fun. I’ll always have this: I had so much fun,” Stiles said through tears – but he looked forward to getting matching tattoos with Sosa.
News broke in August that Stiles was a season 35 cast member.
A week before taking eighth place, the Emmy nominee made headlines for playfully confronting Sosa.
Stiles told the dancer in October that she didn’t “respond well to frustration” and joked that he was a “grumpy bitch.”
Acknowledging that he was pushing Stiles “too far,” Sosa said, “I know her excellence. I know what she can bring.”
Stiles, notably, suffered a recurring rib injury during the competition and cried in pain during rehearsals for Monday’s show – but he was “determined” to see it through to the end.
When she and Sosa landed at the bottom of the leaderboard on Monday, Stiles said, “I brought things out of myself that I didn’t realize existed.”
She called it an “absolute honor” to have been Sosa’s partner all season.
Sosa has been a part of “DWTS” since 2021 — and he revealed to Out magazine last week that his “dream” is to compete with a same-sex partner next season.
“I’m working my magic! I really want this to happen 100%,” the choreographer shared. “I’m so passionate about queer dance in general, especially being a part of the queer community. I gave my word to the casting director. We’ll see what happens as time goes on.”
