Andrews, who turned 91 on October 1, last walked the red carpet in 2023. Most recently, she revealed her decision to step away from on-screen roles. Talk with The Hollywood Reporter in August, Andrews explained why she decided not to return for the third installment of the Princess Diaries film franchise.
“I think the absolute truth is I think I’m really past all that now,” she told the magazine. “I’m not completely retired, but it’s a different type of work I do these days: (writing) books, and I record a lot of podcasts and voiceovers. But really, I don’t think I should be a part of it.”

Andrews added that it’s “always nice to work on things”, but not “necessarily on camera”.
“It’s not that I’m not excited. It’s just that I really don’t think I should be a part of it right now,” she continued.

Based on the books of the same name by Meg Cabot, the original Princess Diaries The film was released in 2001. Anne Hathaway is expected to reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis in the upcoming third installment. In the same THR interview, Andrews was asked what she thought the new film would entail.
“Actually, I don’t know,” she said. “I think it comes from the second Princess Diaries. It’s progressing, but now Annie too is a little older than she was when she did it. I’m curious to see what Meg (Cabot), Annie and everyone come up with.
