Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte Ditch Their Drivers for a ‘Normal’ Subway Ride in New Video
Central London commuters were royally surprised to see Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte on the Tube on Saturday.
The mother-daughter duo were filmed traveling on the Elizabeth Line this weekend, with Hello! magazine hearing that the 11-year-old looked “amazed” by her surroundings.
A source told the outlet that the royals “had security guards with them,” who “didn’t make it clear they were there and tried to make (the subway ride) as ‘normal’ as possible.”
The insider noted that the two men “spoke to members of the audience seated across from them” during a “brief” conversation.
“Catherine had her phone with her and looked at it for a few minutes,” the eyewitness recalled. “They seemed very relaxed and were chatting together while smiling. They seemed very happy.”
Middleton and the preteen got out at the Tottenham Court Road stop, with the 44-year-old holding her daughter’s hand.
Although it’s unclear where Charlotte and her mother were going, they appeared to be dressed formally.
Middleton paired a brown ensemble with brown heels, while her daughter wore navy tights and ballet flats.
Kensington Palace did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Middleton and her husband, Prince William, took the same line and got off at the same stop when they took the subway together in 2023.
At the time, the couple visited the Dog and Duck pub in Soho to “thank the people… who worked hard over the Coronation weekend”.
Middleton regularly took the train before she became a royal — and she admitted in 2013 that she “missed” the underground journeys, according to ABC News.
She and William, 44, began dating in 2002 after meeting while students at the University of St. Andrews.
They got engaged in October 2010 and married in April the following year.
In addition to Charlotte, they are parents to sons Prince George, 13, and Prince Louis, 8.
