Kate Middleton was feeling nostalgic as she kicked off Halloween with an adorable never-before-seen photo of Prince Louis. On October 31, the Princess of Wales showed off her amateur photography skills by photographing her youngest son during a rare celebratory moment at the Wales family home in Norfolk.
Kate was in doting mom mode as she recalled one of Louis’ first Halloween celebrations by sharing a photo of the then-year-old cradling a pumpkin in a garden – marking the first time she or husband Prince William had shared a post about Halloween.

“Happy Halloween! 🎃,” she captioned a post shared to her Instagram account as well as that of Williams’ Prince and Princess of Wales. Kate revealed she took the photo, adding: “One-year-old Prince Louis photographed by the Princess of Wales.”
In the candid image, Louis, now 8, showed a glimpse of his trademark spunky personality. The young royal could be seen sporting long blonde hair, a navy rain jacket, blue cuffed jeans and a pair of orange boots as he played outside. Louis seemed fascinated by a large orange pumpkin in the garden, smiling and crouching down to kiss the large gourd that reached up to his chest.

Kate’s older children, Prince George, 13, and Princess Charlotte, 11, were not pictured in the Halloween photo. However, the three Welsh kids recently stepped out together while marking a royal first for Louis at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland on August 1. Prince Louis was spotted making hilarious faces in the stands as he stepped out for his first ever sporting event.

Kate hasn’t revealed the Welsh family’s plans for Halloween this year, but it’s a very sweet celebration as George – who started Eton College in September – is currently on autumn break at the prestigious boarding school until November 8.
While royals tend not to share photos of themselves dressed up for Halloween, Kate has previously been spotted taking George, Charlotte and Louis around their neighborhood in London in 2022, according to photos shared by a neighbor. The princess was also reportedly spotted at a Sainsbury’s supermarket in Amner, Norfolk, in 2024, buying Halloween costumes for her children.
