Reality TV star Kim Kardashian still has ambitions of becoming a lawyer and plans to retake the bar exam one day.

Kardashian, who failed the 2025 California bar exam, said she was “always thinking about the bar” and was “always all in,” she told People on Monday. “I’m going to take my time and wait until the time is right, when I have some free time to focus on it.”

Kardashian, who plays a lawyer in Hulu’s legal drama Everything is fairwas among 7,362 candidates who completed the California Bar administration in July 2025, according to the State Bar of California.

The state exam is considered one of the toughest in the country, and only 54.8% passed it last year and 48.3% in July, according to the state bar.

Kardashian did not attend law school and does not have an undergraduate degree. She followed the state’s alternative route that allows candidates to take the bar exam by learning the law through apprenticeship and study.

California is one of the few states that allows attorneys to become attorneys by “reading the law.”
