Kim Kardashian wears two Paco Rabanne chainmail dresses for her birthday
Kim Kardashian reunited with her family for her 46th birthday.
The Skims founder doubled down on chain mail for a Wednesday night dinner at Baldi at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.
Her new stylist, Law Roach, brought out a pair of coordinating mini kaftans from Paco Rabanne’s fall 1996 haute couture collection, starting with emerald green metallic mesh and its matching bejeweled headpiece. The dress plunged low in the front and a center slit showed off her black underwear.
She finished the first look with black stiletto mule sandals from Paris Texas ($745).
Once inside, the reality star transformed into a blood-red version of the model, accessorized as she appeared on the runway 30 years ago: with a red beaded headpiece and matching oversized cross necklace. Both kaftans featured batwing sleeves and crystal embellishments.
Mom Kris Jenner, sisters Kylie Jenner, Khloé Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian as well as brother Rob Kardashian were all present for the occasion.
Video from inside the party shows the birthday girl blowing out the candles on a giant cake covered in raspberries.
This is her second set of birthday candles this month. Kardashian called 46 at the start of a trip to the Philippines with boyfriend Lewis Hamilton, celebrating at an oceanside dinner in a Mark Fast macrame top made of little more than strings.
His latest archival choice has a personal connection. Longtime friend Olivier Rousteing was named creative director of Rabanne in July and will present his first collection for the house in March. In fact, the brand shared that the designer helped select both of Kardashian’s sparkling looks.
Kardashian was a fixture at Balmain during Rousteing’s 14 years at the helm, posing for a campaign with husband Kanye West in 2014 and wearing the brand to the 2016 Met Gala.
She even joked on “The Kardashians” that the designer might “have a little something to do” with her daughter North’s existence, since she wore a royal blue Balmain dress the night she designed her in 2012.
