Konami Teases that Belmont’s Curse Won’t Be the End for Castlevania

Konami has been a bit quiet with Castlevania until recently, but the publisher has teased more things coming for the franchise in the future.
Castlevania returned to the spotlight with the special DLC made for Dead Cells in 2023. In a few days we will have Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse – the first major new release in the series in many years. The good news is that things won’t stop there.
Producer Tsutomu Taniguchi recently spoke with Famitsu about Belmont’s Curse and also commented on the future of the series. He indicated that Konami would not want to wait many years before releasing a new Castlevania game, as it could negatively impact what the company is trying to build with Belmont’s Curse.
Our translation of the interview excerpt is as follows:
This game is the 40th anniversary title of the Castlevania series. Beyond the release of this title, what are the prospects and evolution of the series in the future?
Right now, we are focusing all our energy on releasing the game that awaits you, Belmont’s Curse. As for the details of the future, that’s not the case yet… I mean, the development of this game started partly out of a sense of urgency: “the number of people actually playing Castlevania has gone down”, and the number of people who had heard of it but never actually played it had increased.
So with this game coming out, I was like, “Whew…we did it,” but if we say, “Okay, the next game will come out in ten years,” that all makes no sense. But I still don’t know what form this will take.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will be released for Nintendo Switch on October 15, 2026. We have just learned that the game will work better on Nintendo Switch 2 via backwards compatibility.
