The Golden State Warriors are exploring trade options involving forward Kristaps Porziņģis, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Porziņģis has been absent from the team while suffering from recurring symptoms of POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome).

Last week, the Warriors forward posted about his health on social media.

“Hello people, I’m working with doctors and experts to figure out how to get back to good health as soon as possible,” the former All-Star and NBA champion wrote.

“Honestly, I’m getting better and better. I just have to stay patient and I think I’ll feel good again soon. It’s definitely been frustrating dealing with health issues that you can’t pinpoint, plus injuries throughout my career, so it’s been building up for sure, but we’ll get through this.

“Health is wealth. Thank you for all your support.”

Porziņģis also added:

“I appreciate all the Internet doctors trying to diagnose and help, but I’m in the best hands. So everyone can relax now…and I don’t have HIV or AIDS.”

On October 14, before Porziņģis released his statement, Golden State announced that the forward would remain “out indefinitely” and, at the time, called it a “health-related matter.”

Charania’s report Wednesday was the first time recurring POTS symptoms were discussed and the forward considered his future in the sport. Porziņģis was first diagnosed with POTS in 2025.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, “POTS is a condition that causes your heart to beat faster than normal when you go from sitting or lying down to standing.” Symptoms can vary greatly from patient to patient, but Porziņģis’s seem more respiratory and fatigue-related.

POTS severely limited the 7-foot-2 Porziņģis during an Eastern Conference semifinal series against the New York Knicks during the 2024-25 season, while he was still with the Boston Celtics.

Porziņģis averaged just 15.5 minutes during that six-game stretch, which ended Boston’s NBA title defense, with Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla revealing after Game 5 that Porziņģis did not play the second half because “he couldn’t breathe.”

The Knicks selected Porziņģis with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He previously played overseas for Sevilla in Spain.

Porziņģis spent three seasons with the Knicks before missing the entire 2018-19 season with a torn ACL. He then bounced around the league, spending time with the Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Celtics, Atlanta Hawks and Warriors.

During his 10-year career, Porziņģis played 533 matches. He averages 19.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Last year, the forward split his time between the Hawks and Warriors. In total, he played in 32 games and averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

This marks the fewest games he has played in a season in his career, outside of the missed 2018-19 campaign, and his lowest points per game average since his rookie season in 2015-16.
