Kylie Kelce apologizes to Kate Middleton for ‘offensive’ comment
Kylie Kelce has apologized for referring to Kate Middleton as “Princess Kate” on her podcast.
“I love learning, so I didn’t know that calling Princess Catherine, Princess Kate was offensive,” Kylie said on Thursday’s episode of her podcast “Not Gonna Lie.”
“I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I’m going to proceed accordingly,” the mother of four continued. “I apologize for the error. I would like to refer to people in the most respectful way and how they feel respected.”
Kylie, 34, then apologized directly to the future queen: “Princess Catherine or Princess of Wales, I apologize. I will deal with this immediately, from now on.”
Middleton’s official title has been Catherine, Princess of Wales, since September 2022, when Prince William became Prince of Wales and her father, Charles, was made king following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Before that, Middleton, 44, was known as the Duchess of Cambridge after her marriage to William in 2011.
Kylie misdirected Middleton when she invited the royal onto her podcast last week.
“Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever want to come and talk about field hockey and maybe kids. I don’t know. We have a few things in common,” Kylie said on the September 24 episode of “Not Gonna Lie.”
Kylie also noted that their “husbands have been gossiping on the other podcast,” referencing how William, 44, appeared on Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast in July.
On Thursday’s “Not Gonna Lie” episode, Kylie read a comment from a listener who said Middleton “is too refined and beautiful to be subject to (Kylie’s) curses.”
“You’ll need to get your act together,” the comment adds, with which Kylie says she agrees.
Kylie then explained that she wanted Middleton to be on her podcast so they could discuss the fact that they both played field hockey, the cancer battle royal, and more.
“Do I think she has time to be on this podcast? No, I don’t,” Kylie admitted. “I don’t think so.”
Kylie also clarified that although she “loves swear words,” she would never say swear words in front of Middleton.
“At the end of the day, I respect the situations I’m in, at least I respect the people I’m talking to,” Kylie said.
Kylie’s husband and brother-in-law met William and children Prince George, 13, and Princess Charlotte, 11, backstage at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show in London in June 2024.
After the concert, the “Opalite” singer, 36, took a selfie with the royal trio and Travis, 36.
Middleton did not attend the concert, which took place three months after revealing her cancer diagnosis.
