Las Vegas police say man accused of making terroristic threats on plane
A New Jersey-bound United Airlines flight returned to Harry Reid International Airport Saturday evening after a passenger disruption mid-flight, aviation officials said.
The airline said in a statement that United Flight 1681, a Boeing 737 with 150 passengers and six crew members, returned safely to Las Vegas to address a “potential safety issue.”
“The flight was delayed overnight due to a crew outage and departed for Newark this morning,” the statement said. A Harry Reid Airport spokesperson confirmed the plane turned around shortly after takeoff due to “passenger disruption”.
On Monday, Metropolitan Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Dante Milne.
“LVMPD officers responded to Harry Reid International Airport regarding an individual who had made terroristic threats on a flight,” Metro said in a statement Monday. “As a result, the plane turned around and landed safely in Las Vegas. Officers arrested the individual without incident.
Milne was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of threatening an act of terrorism.
Milne has posted bond and is due in court Tuesday.
According to FlightAware, the flight initially left Harry Reid at 10:37 p.m. Saturday evening, just crossing the Arizona border before looping around and returning at 11:42 p.m. It departed from its gate for Newark, New Jersey, just after 7 a.m. Sunday morning.
