White House slams media coverage of Trump’s remark on Iran’s destruction of Los Angeles and San Diego

The White House blasted media coverage of President Donald Trump’s viral remarks about Iran’s destruction of American cities, arguing that the media took his remarks out of context.

At a rally in Nebraska on Monday, Trump addressed rising prices linked to the ongoing war in Iran, calling them “a small price to pay to keep the world and our country safe.”

“They could eliminate a city. Let them eliminate Los Angeles; let them eliminate San Diego,” he then said, drawing cheers from the crowd. “It’s a very small price to pay. And it will be over very soon.”

More than 200,000 people displaced since fighting began in Yemen

More than 200,000 people have been displaced from their homes since fighting began in Yemen in recent weeks, according to data released Wednesday by the United Nations International Organization for Migration.

Displacement figures rose from 76,000 in mid-September to more than 200,000 on Wednesday – almost all of them having fled since fighting began in early September.

“People are running for their lives and have no safe place to go,” said IOM Director General Amy Pope, who called for more funding to address the growing need for “food and shelter”.

Hundreds of people gathered at dawn for a vigil in Sydney, Australia, to commemorate three years since Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7.

People gathered in Bondi observed a minute of silence at 6:29 a.m., just as Hamas launched its assault.

The attack killed 1,200 people, took 251 hostages and sparked a devastating war in Gaza that Palestinians are still grappling with.

Yemen’s pregnant women face double toll from conflict and extreme heat

The Houthis’ rapid advance across western Yemen has displaced more than 130,000 people and brought back to the headlines an 11-year conflict that has too often been overlooked.

But behind the latest fighting lies a hidden toll of this civil war.

After 13 years without having another child, Umm Ali, a mother of three from Aden – the southern port that serves as an interim base for the Yemeni government – was delighted to learn she was pregnant again.

But what should have been a happy event quickly became a physically and emotionally draining experience.

This summer’s extremely intense heat and prolonged power outages in Aden caused Umm Ali to suffer intense exhaustion and nausea.

Yemen says Houthi missile struck minutes before plane landed

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis attacked Aden International Airport with ballistic missiles and explosive-laden drones early this morning.

A missile landed near the airport’s runway minutes before a flight from Cairo was scheduled to land, the ministry said.

Authorities canceled the landing and diverted the plane to Jeddah, while two planes on the runway were moved away from the area for fear of further strikes, he added.

There was no immediate comment from the Houthis.

Aden International Airport is the main international gateway to parts of Yemen outside Houthi control.

Houthi missiles fired at international airport minutes before passenger flight arrives

Yemen’s Houthi rebels said they launched a missile strike on Wednesday targeting the port city of Aden, seat of the internationally recognized government.

A Houthi spokesman said they had struck a military camp near Aden’s international airport with ballistic missiles.

But Aden security authorities said the Houthis had targeted the airport. They said there were no casualties.

“Targeting this vital civilian facility poses a direct threat to the safety of civilians, passengers, employees and flight crews,” Aden police said in a statement.

The attack on Aden airport threatens “a humanitarian disaster” as a missile struck near the runway just before the scheduled landing of a flight from Cairo, the Human Rights Ministry said.

Flight 603, operated by Yemen’s flagship airline, landed safely in Aden at 3:30 a.m., according to flight tracking platform FlightAware.

The ministry said the missile was hit while other passengers were waiting to board their flight to the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah.

Trump says minister’s resignation shows suffering in Iranian economy

US President Donald Trump said the resignation of Iran’s oil minister and high inflation showed Iran’s economy was under severe pressure.

Trump told reporters: “Iran is doing very badly. The economy is broken. They have almost 300 percent inflation. Their oil minister just resigned.”

Trump claimed that former Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said: “We have no economy, we have no oil, we have nothing. »

Trump says no one knows who runs Iran

US President Donald Trump has claimed that no one knows who is ruling Iran during the US-Israeli war against that country, which is now in its eighth month.

“Their leaders are gone, their second set of leaders are gone, and ‘the biggest problem I have is that nobody knows who the hell is running the country,’” Trump said.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Sunday that Washington knows very well who its counterpart is in Iran and how the decision-making system works.

“The problem is actually the opposite: it lies in the contradictory positions and contradictory messages of American officials,” Esmaeil Baghaei said at a press conference.
