Laurent Mekies has signed a long-term contract extension to remain CEO and Team Principal of Red Bull, until the 2031 season.

The French engineer was promoted from Racing Bulls in July 2025 and has led the Milton Keynes-based team through a difficult start to the year, which saw it fall behind its rivals under the new regulations.

However, their constant work throughout 2026 – guided by Mekies – finally paid off as Max Verstappen took back-to-back victories in Malaysia and Singapore, bringing Red Bull back into contention for regular victories.

While the Dutchman and teammate Isack Hadjar have both received contract renewals in recent months, the announcement of Mekies’ new deal ensures the team’s consistency for the seasons to come.

“I am incredibly proud to continue this journey with Oracle Red Bull Racing, and I would like to thank Chalerm (Yoovidhya), Mark (Mateschitz) and Oliver (Mintzlaff), the entire team and everyone involved for the trust they have placed in the project,” said Mekies.

“What makes this team special is how everyone comes together to pursue the same goal, and I feel privileged to work alongside such a talented and committed group every day.”

“Together, with the Pierre Wache and Ben Hodgkinson teams playing a central role in shaping our future, we have a strong platform for the years to come, and we truly believe this is only the beginning.

“As we look to the future, we will continue to adhere to the principles that define us: to be free in our thinking, quick in our actions and bold in our decisions. »

Red Bull shareholders Yoovidhya and Mateschitz added: “Red Bull’s strength always comes from its people and creating an environment where talented individuals can achieve extraordinary things together.

“Laurent has played a crucial role in guiding the team through an important period of transition while maintaining the competitive spirit and Red Bull principles that define us. This extension reflects our confidence in his leadership and our shared belief in the team’s long-term vision. We are ambitious about what lies ahead and are committed to building on this momentum together.”

Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull Corporate Projects and Investments, commented: “Laurent has demonstrated exceptional leadership since returning to the Red Bull family. He combines technical expertise, strategic thinking and a deep understanding of what makes our team successful.

“Equally important, he embodies the values and mentality that define the Red Bull way: courage, teamwork, determination and a relentless desire to compete at the highest level. Continuity in leadership is a key ingredient for lasting success, and we are delighted that Laurent will continue to lead the team through the next chapter of our journey.”
