The iPhone Duo arrives on October 23, but several unexpected features of its sleep mode have just been discovered hidden in Apple code.
iPhone Duo’s sleep mode will offer a variety of additional views not yet seen
When the iPhone Duo arrives next month, it will be the most versatile iPhone yet. This is partly due to its two screens, but also to the special modes available in different configurations.
You can use iPhone Duo folded or unfolded, in landscape or portrait, and in “sitting” or “standing” configuration.
Standing is a great setup for watching videos, but it also allows for a range of new sleep features. And unlike previous iPhones, you can use the iPhone Duo’s sleep mode even when it’s not charging.
Apple showed off several StandBy examples during its unveiling earlier this month. But additional features have just been discovered by the PDFU leaker.
According to the pdfu thread, the code reveals five new StandBy views not previously announced:
- Home camera
- Modular House
- To flow
- Disappear
- Snoopy
The first two allow you to view a single camera feed or a grid of camera feeds, or configure your own custom smart home controls. pdfu thinks Flow will represent some sort of responsive art, and there are no details on Fade yet, but it could be similar. Snoopy’s face should resemble Apple’s tvOS screensaver.
These join previously seen standby views such as analog, digital, classic calendar, weather, photos, memories, shared albums and modular.
The full pdfu thread on X also reveals how the iPhone Duo’s customization screen for multiple sleep views will work.
