Live updates: Trump highlights big new defense project in Maryland
Trump criticized election officials in Maricopa County, Arizona, on Monday after about 3,000 ballots were mistakenly sent to voters.
The error, blamed on a vendor error, would have no effect on voters who received the ballots, the county registrar’s office said. Maricopa County has approximately 2.5 million registered voters.
The presidentlike he usually does before an electionhas been step up your rhetoric as this year’s midterm election day approaches, with control of Congress on the line.
His latest comments referred to a supplier error revealed over the weekend. The Republican-led Maricopa County Recorder’s Office Justin Heap recordersaid Sunday that Runbeck Election Services told the office it “erroneously sent out 3,126 early ballots the day before,” six days before they were scheduled to be mailed to voters for this year’s midterm elections.
The ballots were mailed to the correct voters, are still valid and can be completed and returned as normal by those voters, the registrar’s office said in a statement.
Jeff Ellington, president and CEO of Runbeck Election Services, said Monday that Maricopa County was not at fault in the snafu.
