Godzilla movies have always been quite popular, but those of 2023 Godzilla minus one helped expand the franchise’s reach. Even before the re-releases and awards came into play, it seemed clear that director/writer Takashi Yamazaki wanted to do more, which is coming soon. Godzilla minus zero.
Picking up two years after the last one, the sequel sees Godzilla resurface and a completely regrown body. Once again rampaged across Japan, the humans from the first film come together to help the Japanese government figure out how to deal with Godzilla for good this time around, assuming this is the real monster they should be worried about.
Godzilla minus zero won’t be released for a little over a month, but critics and others were able to share their thoughts after its screening at the New York Film Festival Saturday morning. The social impressions aren’t reviews, but for those looking forward to the sequel, it looks like it’ll give you everything you want and more, as much of the buzz (as seen below) is pretty complimentary.

For North Americans not at the NYFF, there is a chance to see Godzilla minus zero early. Japan is getting the film on November 3, aka Godzilla Day, and select AMC theaters are getting early access to IMAX screenings that day. As of this writing, specific locations and tickets are not yet available – and if you don’t live near one of the locations, the film is released a few days later, on November 6.
