Madonna shares never-before-seen photo of daughter Lourdes for her birthday

Madonna celebrated her daughter’s 30th birthday with a sentimental tribute. The pop diva paid tribute to the eldest of her six children, Lourdes Leon, in an Instagram post shared on October 14.

The carousel features both photos and videos of Lourdes — whom Madonna shares with ex Carlos Leon — over the years, including an intimate Polaroid of the “Hung Up” artist breastfeeding her then-newborn daughter. In a lengthy caption, Madonna recounted Lourdes’ “dramatic” birth in a Los Angeles hospital.

“Your chin was up in my birth canal… after 18 hours of labor and your heart rate slowing, an emergency C-section was the only option,” she wrote. “Did I mention the helicopters and news crews circling overhead on the top floor of the East Los Angeles hospital?”

Madonna, 68, described her relationship with Lourdes as “biblical”, adding that they are “two sides of the same coin”. “If what we risk reveals what we value, then I will risk everything on you,” she continued.

Lourdes follows in her mother’s footsteps as a singer. Her first single was released in 2022, and most recently she appeared on Madonna’s latest album, Confessions II.

The Grammy winner is also mother to sons Rocco and David, as well as daughters Mercy, Stella and Estere.

In August, Madonna celebrated her own birthday by traveling to Greece with her children. She wore a stunning sequin dress in an Instagram carousel documenting their trip.

“It’s my birthday!” the pop star wrote. “Eat, pray, love, drink, dance, break the plates, feed the cats!!”

In several shots, Madonna wore a floral dress with flared sleeves and satin appliqués. She completed her birthday look with sparkly gold stilettos, a statement necklace, a stack of chunky bracelets, and a velvet headband with even more botanical accents.
