Supporters of President Donald Trump were criticized on social media following comments they made to Fox News outside a midterm rally in Iowa on Thursday.
Speaking to Fox News’ Lucas Tomlinson, MAGA loyalists said they aren’t worried about high prices brought on by the U.S. and Israel-led war on Iran.
“I’m sure people don’t like high gas prices, but in my opinion, as soon as we finish this war, it will be worth it,” said a Nebraska voter identified only as Dallas.
Another voter said he was more concerned about issues affecting children than about rising prices.
“I’m not worried about high prices at this point. I’m more worried about how our children are being mistreated in schools,” said the Iowa voter, identified only as Corey.
Social media users have taken on MAGA supporters, many of whom, less than two years ago, cited inflation and the high cost of living as reasons to support Trump in 2024.
Some critics said Trump supporters would tolerate high prices if it prevented them from admitting that the president had broken a major campaign promise. Others credited Trump with knowing his audience.
