Filming on Miami Vice ’85 was disrupted Friday evening when a man threatened a member of production with a butcher knife.
According to an NYPD spokesperson, Alex Perez, 23, of Brooklyn, was arrested around 11:15 p.m. on charges of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon after police were called to the area of Avenue N and McDonald Avenue.
A production crew member told police that Perez drew the knife after a verbal argument, “causing him to fear for his safety.”
Perez was taken into custody and the knife was found unharmed. Deadline has contacted Universal for comment.
Filming started this month Miami Vice ’85 around New Jersey and New York, where Michael B. Jordan was seen filming as Ricardo Tubbs.
Last year, Universal scheduled a reboot of the 1980s NBC series from director Joseph Kosinski and a script from Dan Gilroy and Eric Warren Singer. Jordan was cast as Tubbs in the film, with Austin Butler playing Sonny Crockett.
The cast also includes Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, Danny Ramirez, John Leguizamo, Andrew Schulz, Walton Goggins, Andre Holland, Michael Irby and Haley Lu Richardson.
