A man has died after being seriously injured when he entered a tiger enclosure at a British wildlife park, South Yorkshire Police said.
A police statement said: “At 1.35pm today (Saturday October 10) we received reports of a man entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. »
“Emergency services responded and unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said.
The tiger was not injured in the incident, police said.
Police added that the man’s family were aware and were being supported by specialist officers. “Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

The park was evacuated following the incident. The tiger remained in the enclosure after the attack and there is no further risk to the public, authorities said.
The police spokesperson added that people are encouraged not to share “distressing” images circulating online of the man mauled by the tiger.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park, near the town of Doncaster in northern England, confirmed in a statement that a “serious incident” had occurred in one of its tiger enclosures and that the park’s emergency response procedures had been “immediately activated”.
The park announced it would be closed for the remainder of Saturday and Sunday.
