
Man shot by police after confrontation along Ben Franklin Parkway in Center City Philadelphia: sources
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A man was shot and killed by police after a confrontation on Ben Franklin Parkway Friday morning in Center City Philadelphia.
The situation began shortly after 11 a.m. in the area of 21st Street and Parkway.

Law enforcement sources told Action News there were reports of an indiscriminate shooting with a gun.
When officers arrived on scene, they cordoned off the area and attempted to negotiate while the man continued to point his gun at police, sources said.
The situation escalated and the man was shot and killed by two police officers after firing at police, according to sources.
Police transported the man to Jefferson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man’s weapon, a revolver, was visible on the ground after the shooting.

Video from Chopper 6 showed several police and SWAT officers at the scene.
The Parkway is closed in the area.
