England’s Matt Fitzpatrick won his fourth title of the season with a three-shot victory at Roland Garros in Paris.
Fitzpatrick shot an under-par 70 to hold off a challenge from Spaniard Angel Hidalgo at Le Golf National.
The 32-year-old has already won the Valspar Championship and RBC Heritage titles on the PGA Tour this year, as well as the team event at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans alongside his younger brother Alex.
He led by five shots going into the final day, but a series of 12 successive pars allowed the chasing pack to reduce that advantage to two.
However, crucial birdies at 13 and 15 pushed Fitzpatrick even further and even a bogey at the last could not deny him an 11th European Tour title.
“I’m delighted to have crossed the finish line, it was definitely a battle today,” he said.
“I didn’t have my best stuff for the first 12 holes and then I managed to find some of my best stuff.
“In a way I was very lucky: I ended up in nice places where you can still get on and off, but I took full advantage of it and did very well.”
Matthieu Pavon had the best round of the day, with a score of seven-under 64, which allowed him to finish tied for fourth place alongside his French compatriot Tom Vaillant, Spaniard Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra and Norwegian Kristoffer Reitan.
