Meghan Markle’s ‘MasterChef Junior Australia’ Co-Star Speaks Out on Controversial Casting
Meghan Markle’s ‘MasterChef Junior Australia’ co-star Poh Ling Yeow is in her corner.
The 52-year-old defended the Duchess of Sussex, 45, while chatting with “Pedestrian TV” on Wednesday about how their next project is “the ultimate comeback” to previous reports they clashed while filming “MasterChef Australia.”
Yeow joked: “Eat that, people.”
She then praised Markle for her “will of steel” amid criticism from her “insatiable and horrible” haters.
“I just have more admiration for her,” Yeow said.
She added that “the fallout” from the last time she worked with Markle — on an episode of “MasterChef Australia” filmed in April and aired in July — was “really crazy” to deal with.
Yeow admitted that “the rumors just follow” the “Suits” alum before noting, “I guess I was experiencing it latently because some of it even happened to me, but, like, it’s okay.”
Many social media users called Yeow’s remarks “corporate talk” as she is “under contract…to say nice things” about her colleague – while others praised her for supporting Markle.
Page Six confirmed on Tuesday that Yeow and Markle would work together again, with the actress landing a “special guest” role on “MasterChef Junior Australia.”
In a press release, Markle said participating was an “easy yes.”
She explained: “I love cooking with my own children (Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet), so seeing what these young stars create in the kitchen is going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what they make!”
Yeow, for his part, wrote that reuniting with Markle would be a “real treat” as they had a “lovely time” from the first round.
Although SkyNews reported over the summer that Markle and Yeow clashed while filming “MasterChef Australia” — with the latter falsely referring to the “With Love, Meghan” alum as “royalty” — Page Six dispelled those rumors.
The duo “had a great time” on set, a close source told us at the time, insisting: “There was no frustration on Meghan’s part about anything that was said on set.”
While it’s unclear when exactly Yeow and Markle will reunite for “MasterChef Junior Australia,” the episodes are expected to release in 2027.
Markle is currently away from her and Prince Harry’s home in England as they travel with their little ones during the October half-term break.
Their escapade, we hear, was a “perfect opportunity to let the headlines settle in” as Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., is under investigation by Philippine police for alleged possession of child pornography – which the 82-year-old has denied are “sick lies”.
Meghan, meanwhile, wrote in a statement that the allegations of “deep distress” could help the public understand her years-long estrangement from her father and her “choice not to allow him to have contact with (her) children.”
