Melanie Lynskey sets record for ‘two and a half men’ salary
Melanie Lynskey played the disjointed Rose on Two and a half men throughout the 12 seasons. A hit show can generate a big salary and residuals for the actors. But these figures are sometimes inflated in the public eye.
The actors’ salaries were highlighted when Holland Taylor explained why she left the show. She played Alan’s (Charlie Sheen) mother, Evelyn Harper, for six seasons.
“They never paid me very well for that show,” Taylor, 83, told the show Alchemy with Anthony Mason podcast. “I got paid on that show what I had made on a show eight years before or something like that. And I had four Emmy nominations, and they never gave me a raise. They usually do.”

Lynskey, 49, responded to an Instagram user who claimed she made $200,000 per episode in the comments of the Oct. 25 post. “Hey! Sorry, but this crazy number is floating around the internet and I have to tell you how fake it is,” said the Yellow vests the star responded. “I made literally a tenth of that reported number per episode.”
Chuck Lorre published a memoir entitled Situation comedy and told stories about the many shows he produced, including Two and a half men. He wrote about Sheen’s last scene with Lynskey, which was back in season 8.
“He couldn’t remember any of his lines and had to use the furniture to keep himself upright,” Lorre said. “Melanie was terrified. It was clear to everyone that this man, who we had all grown to love, was in trouble. I had no choice but to stop the show.”
Jon Cryer recently spoke to Page Six in June and said the sitcom was making money, but it wasn’t showing up in the residuals. However, he earns more from the show’s percentage. He also previously claimed that he was paid two-thirds less than Sheen. If you weren’t Sheen, you probably wouldn’t be making millions per episode.
