MS NOW corrects report on FBI Director Kash Patel landing in Russia
FBI Director Kash Patel has asked MS NOW to apologize to the agency after an erroneous report that he landed in Russia.
Citing two anonymous sources, the network’s Ken Dilanian reported on the Peter Alexander show at 11 a.m. ET that Patel had landed in the country for a meeting.
The FBI’s Rapid Response account pushed back, posting a video of Patel at Liberty University in Virginia.
Two hours later, on Alicia Menendez’s show at 1 p.m. ET, Dilanian reappeared on air to say he was correcting the report.
“We have since learned that Patel did not land in Russia today and remains in the United States. The FBI did not respond to our questions when we asked them about this,” he said.
Dilanian noted that reports had already emerged that a Patel meeting was planned in Russia. Those reports raised “serious concerns, including among Democratic lawmakers who had urged Patel to cancel the meeting that published reports said was supposed to take place today. But we now know that he has not yet landed in Russia, as we reported earlier. The timing of any potential trip remains uncertain. Again, we regret this mistake and are transparent about when we make mistakes.”
Patel posted on X that MS NOW owes “an apology to this FBI, to the men and women of law enforcement, and to the American people.” But he also focused on a separate MS NOW report that said the FBI, under his leadership, had brought thousands fewer criminal cases than the previous administration, despite Patel’s claims.
