Musk warns Democrats he will retaliate if they use the power of Congress to investigate him
“The Big Money Show” panel discusses SpaceX reporting a 161% increase in revenue as Elon Musk addresses a possible merger with Tesla.
Elon Musk has vowed to fend off Democratic lawmakers who may seek to use their surveillance powers against him if they manage to take control of one or both chambers of Congress.
Musk responded to a Politico article that detailed how Democrats had considered ways to investigate the billionaire and his companies like Tesla and SpaceX.
“Live by the sword, die by the sword,” Musk wrote in a post on his X platform.
“Those who argue with me need to understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come after them, not just their puppets.”

Musk has been a major donor to Republican candidates and has worked with the Trump administration through the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE). His business dealings with the federal government through his various ventures are also likely to attract the attention of a potential Democratic majority.
The billionaire helped launch DOGE at the start of President Donald Trump’s second term as a way to eliminate waste and promote transparency on federal government spending.

Musk was heavily involved in DOGE’s operations until he left DOGE and his role in the Trump administration in late May to refocus on his duties as CEO of Tesla and SpaceX after his 130-day status as a special government employee expired. He also disagreed with some aspects of the new administration’s policies.
DOGE’s efforts included deferred resignations and buyouts of federal agency employees and contributed to a significant reduction in the federal workforce, which declined by approximately 250,000 employees in 2025, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

In addition to DOGE’s role in downsizing the federal workforce, DOGE has sparked calls for investigations into its role in accessing sensitive data such as Social Security records and withholding funds.
Democratic lawmakers have also alleged that there are conflicts of interest between Musk and the federal government given the contracts his companies like SpaceX and Tesla receive from various agencies.
