Nacon’s new PS5 controller can mix audio from your phone and console
Nacon has announced what the company claims is the world’s first officially licensed PlayStation 5 controller with a built-in screen for adjusting settings like joystick sensitivity or button remapping directly on the gamepad. The Revolution 5 Unlimited’s screen can also be used to mix audio from multiple sources. So, while using a pair of headphones connected to the gamepad with a cable, you can listen to music from your phone and the sounds of the game you are playing at the same time.
The Revolution 5 Unlimited is available for pre-order starting today for $229.99 through Nacon’s online store and is expected to ship later this year. Although primarily designed for use with the PS5, the R5U features an asymmetrical controller layout similar to the Xbox and Switch game controllers with a pair of drift-resistant tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) controllers. Both sticks can be customized by attaching alternate heads featuring different designs and the controller’s D-pad is swappable. You can use a classic four-way design or upgrade to an eight-way option that makes it easier to execute combo moves in fighting games.
Nacon even lets you adjust the balance of the controller with 10, 14, and 16 gram weights that can be inserted into the R5U’s non-slip grips.
On top of the controller, you’ll find a pair of shoulder buttons, a pair of customizable hotkey buttons, and a pair of adjustable-travel triggers that can be shortened to reduce reaction times in FPS games. There are four additional customizable shortcut buttons on the back of the controller as well as a button used to quickly switch between multiple saved profiles.
The R5U is also compatible with PCs and Android devices, and customizing its performance and features isn’t limited to its built-in display. Nacon also offers a mobile app for iOS and Android that expands the customization options to include adjusting joystick response curves, adjusting EQ profiles for audio sources, and changing the color of the RGB lighting surrounding the right stick.
