National Hurricane Center labels Invest 92-L in Gulf
The National Hurricane Center on Monday designated an area of low pressure in the southwest Gulf as Invest 92-L.
Invest is short for “survey” and refers to a weather feature that the National Hurricane Center studies.
This means we can start to get more spaghetti computer models on this disruption.
WESH 2 First Warning Meteorologist Cam Tran said the area of interest could become a tropical depression by the end of the week.
The system has winds of 30 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1,010 mb.
The traces of the latest models show a slight shift towards the east. However, there is still a lot of diversity as to where this situation could go if it develops.
For now, the system is expected to remain weak and well west of central Florida.
Wind shear is expected to increase in the northern Gulf later in the week. This could prevent something stronger from developing, thus keeping the season hurricane-free.
