Police in Smyrna, Georgia, said Friday they found the dismembered remains of a woman this week buried in trash bags in the trunk of a car at an apartment complex.
The victim, Shanteria Mosley – known to family and friends as “KT” – worked as a DoorDash delivery driver. Investigators said one of the bags “had been squeezed, showing the outline of a body part.”
An 18-year-old woman who lived in the same apartment complex has been charged with his murder.
“It’s a shocking crime. I don’t know how else to describe it,” Lt. Meredith Holt, public information officer for the Smyrna Police Department, said at a news conference Friday. “I’ve been in law enforcement for 25 years, been involved in several homicide cases, and worked on crimes against children for 16 years, and this is a particularly horrific crime.”
“I can’t imagine what the family is going through,” Holt added.
Mosley’s body was discovered while checking the car at the Park Valley Apartments in response to a missing person report earlier in the week.
Authorities waited for officials from the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office to arrive before opening the bags to confirm they contained body parts, according to a news release.
Kingston Bradley of Smyrna, Georgia, was arrested and charged with concealing the death of another and malicious murder in connection with Mosley’s death.
Police said Bradley lived with his father at Park Valley Apartments, where the body was found.
Holt did not say whether Bradley and Mosley knew each other before the incident, but said authorities were still investigating how the two were related. Holt said the victim was not working the day she was killed.
Neither DoorDash nor Mosley’s family members immediately responded to requests for comment.
