Nestlé confirms closure of Solon plant and transfer of operations to South Carolina
SOLON, Ohio (WOIO) – Nestlé confirmed to 19 News Monday that it plans to close its Solon plant.
According to a Nestlé USA spokesperson, the Solon location will gradually close as production shifts from Solon to the Gaffney, South Carolina, plant.
This decision is part of Nestlé’s efforts to better serve consumers and optimize its network.
“We are supporting affected Solon plant employees with comprehensive separation and transition support, including collaboration with the state and a local partner,” the spokesperson told 19 News.
Affected employees will also be able to apply for open positions at other Nestlé locations, including in Ohio.
Nestlé says it has a long-standing presence in Ohio, with nearly 3,000 employees in seven locations across the state, including manufacturing operations, R&D, corporate functions and the broader Solon campus.
19 News reached out to the Solon Mayor’s Office for more information on how many employees were affected by the closure.
