New iPad mini will come with A20 Pro chip and landscape camera, report says
Apple is coming off a very busy September, but from what we’re hearing, the company plans to continue releasing new products in rapid succession over the coming months.
Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, launches next October, and it looks like it could seal the fate of the iPad mini. But the smallest iPad has proven to be pretty durable over the years, and given how much cheaper it is than the iPhone Duo ($599 versus $1,999), it’ll probably stick around for a while.
According to MacRumors, Apple is preparing to launch the next generation iPad mini, with an A20 Pro chip, a landscape-oriented front camera, as well as a new speaker system. We’ve also heard that the iPad mini will be water-resistant and could feature a slightly larger OLED display.
There’s no word on the exact launch date, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously said it could launch by the end of October.
Crushable speed of light
But that’s not all. Apple also plans to release the HomePod mini 2, which will likely feature a new chip and support Siri AI. It will also be available in five colors: green, pink, blue, white, and black (all of these are new in addition to white and blue, but even that would be slightly lighter than the shade of blue currently offered).
The HomePod mini 2 launch window is less clear, but it should happen before the end of the year.
Finally, Apple will likely release the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. It will look exactly like the current model, but it will come with a new chip (likely A17 Pro or better), 8GB of RAM (up from 4GB on the current model), Siri AI support, a new N1 chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, and a redesigned remote control.
Apple to fix iPhone 18 Pro Face ID bug
All of the information above comes from actual image files hidden in Apple’s code, so it’s highly likely that it’s real. Again, this doesn’t tell us much about the exact launch date, but it’s likely that Apple will unveil several of these products together, perhaps in October.
