The 50, formerly among the top 50 in the world, discontinued their annual list of best restaurants in the world last night at a ceremony in Lima, Peru. And ohout of among the 50 best gastronomic destinations, only one North American restaurant was selected…and it’s here in New York.

That the honor rightfully goes to Atomix, taking number 11 place after his debut at number 12 last year. The publication praised husband and wife team, Junghyun (JP) and Ellia Park, for their “sensational space that houses one of the most progressive Korean tasting menus outside of Seoul and one of the most sought-after tables in New York.” The 50s writing continues on: “Those looking for just a light bite or drink can head to the upstairs bar for a craft cocktail or signature snacks such as JP’s Sticky Rice Stuffed Fried Chicken Wings.”

JP Park also won the 2026 Estrella Damm Chefs’ Choice Award, the only peer-voted award, for his philosophical approach to Korean cuisine that extends to his other concepts, including Naro, Seoul Salon and Somssi.

This isn’t the first time the Korean restaurant has received top marks from the publication: Atomix took first place for the first edition of the 50 Best Restaurants in North America last year. And that is just one of THE many awards that Atomix has received since its opening on East 30th Street in May 2018; it was awarded for Outstanding Hospitality in 2025 and Best Chef in New York State in 2023 by the James Beard Foundation, and maintains two-star Michelin Guide status.

North America as a whole was a little better represented on the extended listwhich included entries from Fauna in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico (at #99); Rosetta in Mexico City, Mexico (No. 96); SingleThread in Healdsburg, California (No. 93); Arca in Tulum, Mexico (No. 87); Huniik in Mérida, Mexico (No. 79) and Alcade in Guadalajara, Mexico (No. 55).

And while North America hasn’t cracked the top ten yet, we’re still supporting restaurants that have made it, including that of Lima Kjolle (No. 7), Quintonil in Mexico (No. 4) and Gaggan in Bangkok (No. 2). This yesr is nakedFirst place went to Asador Etxebarri, located in Spain Basimple country.

Check out the top ten winners here. For the full list, go to The 50s official website.
