New York’s largest health system, with a dozen hospitals on Long Island, is laying off some of its workforce.
Northwell Health says these measures were necessary to maintain the organization’s stability in today’s challenging healthcare landscape.
The cuts will ease financial pressures and preserve vital services for the communities they serve, the network says.
In a statement to News 12, the organization said, “As part of this broader effort, we have made the difficult decision to eliminate a limited number of positions within the organization. »
“Decisions like this are never taken lightly, and our priority in this situation is to support the affected team members,” the statement continued.
The precise number and types of positions eliminated were not indicated.
Some employees will be matched with other vacant positions within the company that need to be filled.
Northwell Health is also the state’s largest private employer, with more than 100,000 workers.
