NFL fines 49ers’ Jed York $500,000 and suspends 6 games after owner arrested while responding to fake prostitution ad
The NFL fined San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York $500,000 and suspended him for six regular-season games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
In late August, York, 46, was arrested in Ohio after responding to a fictitious ad on a prostitution website.

“During the course of the league’s investigation, York remained absent from the 49ers’ first three regular season games, as well as NFL league meetings,” the league said in a statement Friday, via NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
“These three missed games count towards his suspension, and he could return on Tuesday, October 20.”
This return coincides with Week 7 of the 2026 campaign, in which the currently undefeated Niners will face the Atlanta Falcons on the road on October 25.
York also released a statement on Friday:
“Today the NFL concluded its review and I accept its decision in its entirety,” he said, via ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.
“To my family, to the players, coaches and employees of the San Francisco 49ers, to our fans and partners, I am deeply sorry.
“It was an inexcusable mistake and I take full responsibility for it. What I did does not reflect my values or the man I strive to be for my family.
“Even though I haven’t achieved the role model I want to set for my sons, I now hope to show them the importance of recognizing failures and that even our worst moments teach us to be better.
“Leading the 49ers is a privilege that I do not take lightly. Your trust will need to be regained over time, and I look forward to this work ahead.”
