NFL News, Live Updates: Lamar Jackson to be placed on IR with thumb injury; Lions LB Jack Campbell evaluated for neck injury in hospital
Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season is almost over, with only the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks left to play on “Monday Night Football.”
There was plenty of excitement on Sunday, including two games that went to overtime, but unfortunately they weren’t without injuries. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson returned to the lineup after recovering from an ankle injury, but that excitement was short-lived as he injured his thumb on his first pass attempt of the game. According to head coach Jesse Minter, he will need surgery and a move to the injured reserve list – a brutal blow.

Backup Tyler Huntley is also dealing with what is believed to be a toe injury, which has forced Baltimore to resort to its third emergency quarterback, Joe Fagnano. He completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards and an interception in relief of Jackson and Huntley this week.
The Ravens are playing a short week, as they are scheduled to host the Jacksonville Jaguars on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 9.
The Detroit Lions handed the Minnesota Vikings their first loss of the season, but lost a key playmaker on defense as All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell suffered a scary neck injury. He was pinned to a backboard before being taken to hospital as his teammates gathered around him in an emotional scene.

The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton for the rest of the game. The team reportedly feared Hamilton would miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn quad in Week 8, according to NFL Network.
Hamilton was injured during the team’s blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts. He had to be sent off the field due to a leg injury.
The 29-year-old has spent his entire career with the Jaguars and has started every game for the team this season. He will be a free agent at the end of the year, so his injury could mean the end of his time in Jacksonville.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur isn’t ready to commit to a starting quarterback yet, even though his replacement just led them to a wild overtime victory against the Dallas Cowboys.
LaFleur opted to replace Jacoby Brissett with Gardner Minshew on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium, a decision that ultimately led to their 33-30 overtime victory against the Cowboys.
Although Minshew is expected to remain the team’s starter, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPNLaFleur refused to commit to that point when asked directly after the game.
“I’m just excited about this win right now,” he said. via ESPN.
Even though LaFleur was vague, Minshew should get the start against the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday unless something changes in the coming days.

Josh Jacobs has denied any wrongdoing after three other women contacted police to report abuse allegations against him while the Green Bay Packers guard was under investigation for a different incident earlier this year.
Jacobs’ lawyers released a statement Sunday afternoon denying the three other abuse allegations against him, and said he had “a substantial body of hard evidence to support his claims.”
“All three stories are old, hearsay and easily disproven, but they were released to the media by police without any investigation into whether they were accurate or contradicted by evidence,” his attorneys said via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. “Josh responds to it in detail due to the defamation that is occurring, unfairly threatening his career.”
