NFL QB Rankings, Week 6: Josh Allen Reclaims Top Spot; Jordan Love takes the biggest leap | Latest NFL News, Analysis and Updates
- Kyler Murray is starting to settle into this offense (relatively speaking), finding some success in the second half by trusting his abilities as an improviser and passer while avoiding crushing mistakes. I thought his best sign of improvement came when New Orleans actually caged him in the pocket, and instead of lunging for a sack, Murray kept his feet active while guarding and ultimately finding Jeshaun Jones for a 32-yard completion. It’s a small growth, which could go a long way over the course of a season if it continues.
- Tyler Huntley did what Snoop does: win ball games by calmly leading Baltimore’s offense in place of Lamar Jackson. His exploits in the fourth quarter were not surprising but were rather entertaining.
- Jacoby Brissett is stuck in a throw-and-pray attack in the third-and-long period, a scenario that happens far too often to result in sustainable competition. At least the Cardinals can now move on from the subject of Marvin Harrison Jr.
- Tyler Shough struggled against an elite Vikings defense and has now strung together some tough outings that have sunk his stock.
- Daniel Jones has protected the football (finally) but struggles with an extremely limited receiving corps. It also doesn’t help when tight end Tyler Warren drops passes.
Next-Gen Stats Preview (via NFL Pro): Kyler Murray was effective passing from the pocket in the Vikings’ Week 5 win over the Saints, completing 22 of 25 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown. Murray increased his yards per attempt and success rate from the pocket in two straight games, with a season-high 8.5 yards per attempt and a 51.9% success rate in Week 5. Murray also had 54 rushing yards and three first downs on seven scrambles, the most by a Vikings quarterback in a game in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016).
