The NFL’s Week 4 schedule is fascinating, both in a good way and a bad way, when you go through the table. There are marquee matchups, like the Patriots visiting the Bills, the Rams visiting the Eagles, the battle of the undefeated in Vegas between the Chiefs and Raiders, and even the Cowboys and Texans trying to right the ship. Then there are matchups like Dolphins-Vikings or Titans-Ravens that seem a bit lopsided. But that’s the trick when we make NFL picks and predictions – it’s never as easy as it seems.
I certainly embodied that through three weeks with my NFL picks, especially coming off an 11-win ATS week to start the season with two five-win weeks. Not great! At least we still have a good record, I guess. But you know what, it’s a long season and we’ll bounce back (I hope). With that, it’s time to check out our NFL Week 4 picks with predictions for all 16 games, both straight and against the spread.

The hardest NFL Week 4 prediction to make
Jacksonville Jaguars (+2.5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Jaguars just drove quietly. Yes, they lost to the Broncos in Week 2, but they did it in a close game. Plus, Denver shows that the loss is definitely not a bad loss. But even though the Bengals have an identical 2-1 record heading into this game and are playing at home in this game, if you start to dig a little deeper, it seems a little shaky. Do we really want to say the defense is fixed after it gave up 30 points in a loss to Aaron Rodgers’ Steelers after beating the Bucs and Texans, teams that have combined for zero wins thus far?
It couldn’t be me. I still believe that Jacksonville’s offense is near the top of the league in efficiency and could only step up right now and can further expose the Bengals defense. Yes, Joe Burrow and Cincy can certainly counter that, but I also have a lot more confidence in the Jags defense. However, taking a road dog never feels good, so a lot happened to finally land on the team I think is the best…and maybe considerably so.
Easiest NFL Week 4 pick on the board
Detroit Lions (-3.5) vs. Carolina Panthers
This is not to say that the Detroit Lions are surefire world champions. This also doesn’t mean I think the Carolina Panthers are a dogwater football team that has no hope, even at home. However, it must be unequivocally said that the Lions come into this game with a few distinct advantages, which unfortunately stem from a series of injuries that the Panthers will try to endure in this game.
For one thing, Jaycee Horn is out in this game and the Panthers defense is broken — there’s also at least a chance that Devin Lloyd won’t play as well. But worse than that, Bryce Young could be in trouble since almost the entire Carolina offensive line will be out of this game due to injuries. While Detroit’s pass rush outside of Aidan Hutchinson isn’t anything to write home about, it’s a draw against almost every defense in the league, which leads me to believe the Lions should win this game fairly comfortably on the road.
The choice that interests you
Kansas City Chiefs (-4.5) vs. Las Vegas Raiders
One of the biggest games of the week as the Chiefs and Raiders renew their rivalry as both teams head off to dream season starts. I don’t think many people have had this matchup in Vegas between undefeated teams, but here we are – and it should be a lot of fun to see how it plays out.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure the result is really dubious. The Raiders are undoubtedly a much better team than I expected from the start this season. Kirk Cousins and the offensive line’s improvements have stabilized this group in a massive way. But we can’t ignore the fact that the Silver and Black’s 3-0 run was highlighted by wins over the struggling Dolphins and Chargers, although the road win over the Saints undeniably increases my opinion of this team.
That’s not to say the Chiefs are a perfect team, but they are far better than the combined 1-8 record of the teams the Raiders have faced so far in the season. More importantly, Patrick Mahomes and Kenneth Walker III lead the way for what appears to be by far the best offense Vegas has ever seen and, while Maxx Crosby is on another planet with his performance right now, I’m not sure he’s enough to slow down this Kansas City group enough to win or even present themselves as a local underdog.
