Scopely has announced a series of gameplay and quality of life updates coming to Pokémon GO! They shared their intention to “make your adventures as fun, intuitive and accessible as possible”, so let’s see what will change.
Zygarde cells on the roads
Zygarde Cells discovered on a route will now be received as a reward when you complete the route.. This means you don’t need to collect them from the map, so no need to make sure you check them carefully!
The probability of finding Zygarde Cells will remain the same, so you still won’t be able to find them on every route. This is a great update, with a busy map it can sometimes be difficult to spot Zygarde Cells, and having to remember to collect them before completing the route often left you hanging around at the end of a route for a few minutes just in case you didn’t spot them at the start, or if they appeared very close to the end.
Compass and weather icons
The Compass and Weather icons have been combined into a single dynamic icon which adjusts based on your actions.
The Compass icon displays when rotating or zooming your view, while the Weather icon displays at all other times.
Tap the Weather icon to view active weather conditions and improvements, and tap the Compass icon, when visible, to toggle the display direction when on the map.
This makes the game map a little less busy, and let’s be honest, most people don’t press it very often unless by accident!
★ 100% Pokémon Transfer Warnings
Now this is a great quality of life update. You will now get a in-game warning when trying to transfer a 100% perfect Pokémon IV!
You will now receive a confirmation prompt before transferring any Pokémon whose stats are maxed out. This warning also displays the exact number of ★ 100% Pokémon selected during bulk transfers.
Improvements to the map view display
Map view spacing has been improved to reduce overlap between wild Pokémon encounters, Gyms, Power Spots and PokéStopswhich makes it easier to exploit specific encounters. No more not being able to click on a spawn that is hidden under an Arena or a PokéStop! As someone who couldn’t click on a Galarian Articuno encounter because she spawned it at a PokéStop, I appreciate this.
