Now it’s official – no Tadej Pogacar at the European Championships

Rumors of Tadej Pogacar’s potential early return from injury and participation in the UEC European Road Championships evaporated for good on Wednesday morning when the Slovenian National Federation announced its line-up for the races – and Pogacar was not on its list of participants.

Following reports in the Spanish media that Pogačar could return to racing just a month after his crash at the Vuelta a España, the chances of that happening already seemed highly unlikely. Yesterday, the director of the commercial team, Mauro Gianetti, said La Gazzetta du Sport that despite the Slovenian’s strong emotional ties to home racing, no change of program was planned and that “health comes first”.
