Nvidia reportedly ends production of GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card

Comments Off on Nvidia reportedly ends production of GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card

Nvidia has reportedly stopped manufacturing the GeForce RTX 5090, including the D variants intended for the Chinese market.

The claim comes from a leaked review from an anonymous factory, shared by leaker @hongxing2020 and reported by Tom’s Hardware. A second leaker, @Zed__Wang, reportedly supported this claim, saying the GB202 chip behind the RTX 5090 would now only go into data centers and professional cards.

“According to a factory notification, Nvidia will no longer manufacture RTX 5090 models, including D variants,” read the post from @hongxing2020. “In the future, the highest-end GeForce graphics card will be the RTX 5080 24GB, while the RTX 5080 16GB version will be discontinued. Please spread the word.”

Nvidia did not announce the change, and Tom’s Hardware said the company did not respond to its request for comment.

According to Tom’s Hardware, an RTX 50 Super refresh, which would include a 24GB RTX 5080 Super, has been delayed due to memory supply constraints.

Rumors place the arrival of Nvidia’s Rubin-based RTX 60 series at the earliest in late 2027, and possibly 2028.

The industry-wide memory shortage has already affected other hardware. GamesIndustry.biz Previously reported that Sony could delay the PS6 to 2028 or 2029 due to the crisis, Valve said it was limited by memory capacity, and Xbox warned that memory costs would affect the price and availability of Project Helix.
