Oklahoma Suffers Historic Loss to East Texas A&M on Day 1 of CBB Season
Oklahoma’s basketball season is off to a disastrous start.
The Sooners had what looked like an easy game against East Texas A&M in their season opener on Monday, but despite being 28.5-point favorites heading into the game, they dropped the game to the Lions.
This is East Texas A&M’s first-ever victory against a Power Conference opponent and is the second-largest Division I loss by margin in the last 30 years, according to ESPN.
East Texas A&M has never made the NCAA Tournament and is coming off an 11-21 season, but the Lions might be able to make history and make it to the Big Dance this year. A win against a Power 4 team will surely give them some momentum heading into the season.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, needs to do some soul-searching after this historic defeat.
The Sooners weren’t the favorites to compete for a title or win the SEC this year, but they were looking to at least get back into the NCAA Tournament after missing out last year.
Oklahoma will face Mississippi Valley State on Friday, where it will look to avoid another historic upset.
