Oregon starting quarterback Dante Moore is out for the remainder of the 2026 season due to injury, sources tell On3. Head coach Dan Lanning confirmed the news during his Monday evening press conference.

Moore left the U.S.C. September 26 game with a concussion. He was carried off the field and taken by ambulance to the hospital after a late hit by the Trojans linebacker. Desman Stephens. The blow came as Moore tried to slide through a scrum.

Since his Week 4 release, Moore has not returned to gameplay. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning told reporters earlier this month that Moore had returned to practice. Sources told On3 that Moore’s availability has increased in practice in recent weeks, moving from the scout team to the second team.

“I think if it was up to Dante, he would want to play for the guys,” Lanning said. “Unfortunately, it doesn’t really depend on Dante, it doesn’t really depend on me. We can control the setting in training where he’s able to do things for us, whereas that’s not always the case in a game. We said before that it was a serious matter that he would fully recover from 100%; that hasn’t changed. But for him to be on the field for us right now, that’s not going to happen.”

Dante Moore was considered a first-round NFL draft pick following the 2025 season, but opted to return to Eugene for one final season. He finished the 2025 season with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, leading the Ducks to a 13-2 record. The quarterback also completed nearly 72% of his passes.

Moore entered this season as a Heisman Trophy contender and with his sights set on winning a national championship. In four games this season, Moore has totaled 926 yards with nine touchdowns and no interceptions. As a starter for the Ducks, Moore went 16-3 in his career.

But with Moore sidelined, Oregon relied on a combination of Dylan Raiola And Thomas Thomas. In Moore’s absence, the Ducks are 1-2 and have turned the ball over 10 times in their last three games.

Raiola started and played the entire game against Illinois on Saturday, but finished 27 of 41 for 246 passing yards as the Ducks scored just 10 points.

Lanning fired the offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer Sunday regarding recent offensive struggles. Oregon currently ranks 88th in the FBS in rushing and 40th in scoring. Lanning has yet to name an offensive player for the remainder of the season.

Oregon is 4-3 with five games remaining and faces a strong chance to make the College Football Playoff.
