What are other critics saying about Jessica Chastain’s ‘The Other Mom’?
Megan Navarro is part RT reviews that give Other mom a “rotten” score, writing: “Other mom is so flat and devoid of tension that by the end of the film, you’re more likely to laugh or groan at the absurd lengths this family will go to to avoid therapy than root for their triumph over an ultimately forgettable demonic entity.
Other mom also gets a “rotten” score from Richard Lawson of The Hollywood Reporter. Lawson writes in his summary of RT’s review: “The film lacks a sense of dreadful buildup that might help its scares sink in more deeply. As it stands, Savage’s film is an engaging but mostly hollow collection of jumpy bits and half-baked mythology.”
Carla Hay Cultural mix also splatters the film with a “rotten” score on RTwriting, “Other mom is an incoherent embarrassment for everyone involved. This time-wasting horror film is nothing but weak scares and stupid characters in this poorly handled story of a demonic entity disguised to look like the wife/mother of the family.
Peter Gray of AU Review also gives the film a “rotten” rating. Gray writes in his RT review summary, “Other mom He may know how to make an entrance, but he has absolutely no idea what to do once he’s in the room.
Karina Adelgaard Horror paradise is among RT the critics who give Other mom a “new” review, asking: “Can it live up to all the hype and record preview ticket sales? Well, I think so. However, moviegoers and critics may disagree with each other. This one seems made for the fans first… as it should.”
