Packers RB Josh Jacobs will be removed from the NFL’s exempt list and will be eligible to play in Week 7
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is being removed from the exempt list, the NFL announced Friday.
Jacobs was placed on the list on August 30 after an arrest for domestic violence last May. In Friday’s statement, the league said the investigation into Jacobs’ arrest “remains ongoing and is not affected” by Jacobs’ removal from the roster.

Jacobs will officially be removed from the roster on Monday. He will be eligible to make his season debut in Week 7, when the Packers face the Detroit Lions on October 25.
Jacobs was arrested in northern Wisconsin on May 26 and charged with multiple counts of domestic violence. The charges stem from an incident three days prior, in which Jacobs allegedly grabbed a woman trying to leave his garage and threw her to the ground.
Jacobs was formally charged with two of those counts, battery and criminal damage to property, the week before he was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. He pleaded no contest to both charges last month.

Jacobs is now trying to prevent evidence, including footage of the incident, from being made public: The running back filed a civil complaint earlier this week, calling for an injunction and protective order that would restrict access to records in his case. The Brown County prosecutor reportedly said surveillance footage outside Jacobs’ garage corroborated the victim’s account of the incident.
In a statement, Jacobs’ attorneys, Clarence F. Duchac III, David Z. Chesnoff and Richard A. Schonfeld, said he was “excited to return to work” after being removed from the list.
“Josh has dedicated the last few months to improving himself and he accepts responsibility for his actions,” the statement read, via Tom Pelissero of The Ringer. “Josh is grateful for the support he receives from his teammates, his coaches, the Packers organization and the greatest fans in the world. Since there are ongoing legal matters, he will make no further comment.”
