Pakistan launched air attacks on Afghanistan, saying they targeted “camps and hideouts” used by armed groups in two locations and killed around 22 fighters.
The announcement made Thursday by Pakistan’s Information Ministry comes as Kabul accuses Islamabad of killing at least nine women and children in attacks on its provinces of Kunar and Helmand.

Al Jazeera was unable to independently verify the victims’ claims.
Zabihullah Mujahid, an Afghan government spokesman, said the strikes took place Wednesday evening and at least nine people were killed and 11 others injured.
In an article on X, he said attacks on northeastern Kunar and southern Helmand destroyed three houses.
“We condemn this act and consider it an aggression and a crime against all accepted principles,” he wrote.
The alleged attacks come against a backdrop of escalating fighting between neighboring countries after three months of relative calm. Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring armed groups, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, which organize cross-border attacks on its territory.
The Afghan government denies the accusation and says Pakistani attacks have targeted civilian homes, killing and injuring women and children.
