Stewart died at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 89 after a brief battle with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia on October 28.

Although Daniel didn’t caption the photo, the image holds special meaning considering he followed in his father’s footsteps as an actor. In addition to their stage roles in Johnson on JordanStewart and Daniel starred alongside each other in the 1993 thriller Death Train. Daniel, who began acting straight out of high school, also played the role of Jean-Luc Picard’s son in a season 5 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation entitled “The Inner Light”.

Stewart shared Daniel and his daughter, Sophie Stewart, 54, with his first wife, actress and dancer Sheila Falconer.
