Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne’s Halloween Costume Will Enrage Anyone Tired of Rushing During the Holidays
I hope you had a good Halloween. I know I did, handing out candy to the two treats that stopped at my house.
And to the kids who walked past my house without stopping, the joke’s on you: I now have a giant bowl of Twizzlers, Reese’s and Jolly Ranchers to eat in shame for the next few days.
And plenty of athletes seemed to have a great vacation, too, including Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes and his girlfriend Livvy Dunne.

But their choice of costumes is alarming for those of us who want to savor Halloween before we start looking ahead to not one, but two upcoming holidays.
The couple shared photos and videos of their costumes: Buddy the Elf of “Elf” fame and a bottle of Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup.
It’s a solid costume, as Will Ferrell’s iconic character is a huge syrup lover, but… CHRISTMAS?!?!
For example, even Neal Page and Del Griffith from “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” wouldn’t tell Halloween to pound sand, skip Thanksgiving like a soulless redheaded stepson, and go straight to Christmas.
This reminds me a bit of a Halloween I had a few years ago. I was working in my office that afternoon and watching 1933’s “The Invisible Man” when I heard my wife looking for something in the closet.

Moments later she came out with our Christmas tree and put it up before the Invisible Man even left the Lion’s Head Inn.
I’m not one to say that Christmas has to wait until after Thanksgiving. I’ll hum a Christmas carol or steal a mini candy cane from a bank teller’s desk before Thanksgiving Day, but I never have a full Christmas until I wake up from my Thanksgiving food coma.

But not Skenes and Dunne. They’re already in Christmas mode while people across the country are still dressing like the woman from “Obsession,” donning inflatable Minion costumes and waiting to take their first shot of Halloween Jell-O.

I mean, great costume work, but let’s enjoy Halloween before we start thinking about buying Amazon gift cards for everyone in our family.
